About the Opportunity:


QEII New Generation is an initiative to realign care and services from the aging Victoria and Centennial buildings on the Victoria General Site of the QEII Health Sciences Centre.

In addition, the initiative will map out a plan for future service delivery at key sites in Central Zone.

It includes multiple sub-projects including renovations and new construction at the Halifax Infirmary, Dartmouth General Hospital, a new Community Outpatient Centre in Bayers Lake and more.

The complex, multi-site, multi-project, and multi-phased nature of the overall project, and the complex environment within which the work is being planned and implemented combine to form a high risk situation in which effective engagement, well thought-through functional planning, thorough operational readiness planning and strong transition management are very important activities to mitigate many types of risk.


Responsibilities:


Reporting to the Senior Clinical Director, QEII New Generation Project, the Director, Operational Readiness in collaboration with clinical and redevelopment leadership teams, is responsible for ensuring the seamless transition of hospital operations from the current operating state, through to the new operating state (across multiple locations).

The Director, Operational Readiness will provide leadership and oversight to the development of operational work plans that will allow all programs and services impacted by redevelopment activities to achieve successful transition to full operations.

Operational Readiness/preparedness, change management and sustainability principles are critical in guiding the successful transitions to new buildings, new sites and new care environments.


About You:

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Master's degree in a health discipline or business administration or enrollment in an appropriate degree program with a committed completion date
  • Past demonstrated experience with healthcare redevelopment project planning and in particular, experience with largescale Operational Readiness planning and implementation
  • Solid understanding of hospital clinical operations and the interdependencies amongst clinical, diagnostic and support services
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with the ADKAR change methodology
  • Project Management certification an asset
  • Certified Health Executive (CHE) designation an asset
  • Leadership style and a personal presence that inspires confidence, credibility and demonstrated mature judgment
  • Broad knowledge of and demonstrated experience with large scale change management, including dealing with resistance to change and demonstrating personal commitment to change through actions and communications
  • Strong analytical capabilities, demonstrated effectiveness in assessing and managing risks while measuring and evaluating results
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and experience coordinating multiple assignments/ projects
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and understanding of financial management systems
  • Ability to deliver business results through influence and the coordination of internal and external resources, where no direct reporting relationships exist
  • Excellent communication, consultation, negotiation and consensus building skills
  • Collaboration, knowledge sharing and continuous process improvement in partnership with Cape Breton Redevelopment team and other internal stakeholders

  • Hybrid work arrangement, with minimum 3 days per week inperson at office in downtown Halifax required
  • Travel within Central Zone and work onsite at NSH sites undergoing operational readiness/facil
