Student Integrated Health and Wellbeing includes the Medical Centre, Centre for Student Development and Counselling, and Health Promotion Programs.
In Student Integrated Health and Wellbeing, a comprehensive, holistic model of health is engaged to support students' health and wellbeing.
The Medical Centre provides health care services on campus including assessments, immunizations, physicals, and more.The Centre for Student Development and Counselling offers free, confidential counselling services from a team of professional counsellors and counselling interns.
Using a personalized care model, the team works with students to develop a personal wellbeing plan, and services offered include group and one-on-one care.
Finally, Health Promotion shares health tips and strategies to students at TMU and runs the peer support programming.The Opportunity:
Qualifications
- Successful completion of a postsecondary degree in the field of social work or related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience working in a mental health setting.
- Thorough understanding of issues relevant to mental health and wellbeing for young adults and adults, including developmental issues, trauma, and social determinants of health.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
- Strong critical thinking, problemsolving and decisionmaking skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of the student experience, particularly as it relates to the social determinants of health.
- Experience working with individuals with diverse and intersecting identities through antioppressive and traumainformed practice.
- Knowledge of the broader mental health system, including emergency mental health services, procedures, and legislation. Clear understanding of privacy legislation. PHIPA, FIPPA,
- Mental Health Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, AODA, Regulated Health Professions Act.
