You are a Expeditor with 5+ years post-graduate experience looking for the next step, or are currently undertaking a similar role in a similar environment.
Job Description:
Responsibilities of the
Expeditor:
- Liaison with commodity managers on purchasing requirements
- Analyze and evaluate technical or complex proposals and selecting best vendor to supply items meeting all requirements
- Prepare supporting documents i.e., sole source documents, request of approval, etc.
- Administration and monitoring of expediting assignments
- Preparation and processing of project expediting file closeouts
- Coordinate shop visits for direct participation to verify status updates
- Work closely with document control to coordinate the exchange of vendor drawings and documents
- Expedite the exchange of schedules, drawings and documents between homeoffice and suppliers
- Communicate equipment/material delays and schedule conflicts with project team
- Followup with suppliers to determine schedule restoration plans and corrective actions to ensure delivery performance, and/or monitor activities during product manufacturing/shipment
- Collaborate with relevant key stakeholders such as client procurement representatives and vendors to ensure all procurement activities have been addressed and covered off
- Manage deadlines and ensure appropriate communication is provided to relevant parties when schedule conflicts arise
Key success factors for the role include the ability to work with others (both internal and external stakeholders), understand and optimize procurement processes, and implement continuous improvements to streamline processes.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in procurement/buying/expediting on large construction or mining projects.
- Experience with large, remote mining projects would be beneficial.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiating, project management, planning and organizational skills
- Proficiency with MS Office including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
Working Conditions:
Fly-in Fly-out is available (FIFO) from Toronto.
