What you will do:


Under the direction of the Associate Director, Ancillary Services, and Manager, Campus Dining & Retail Services, the Retail Services Assistant supports the day-to-day operation of Ancillary Services; including the Campus Dining & Retail Services Office and Linx Lounge.

The Retail Services Assistant will provide administrative assistance during peak periods, including, but not limited to, financial reconciliations, requisitions, journal vouchers for chargebacks, facilities work orders; and meticulous record keeping of transactions and reimbursements on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

The incumbent will also aid the Central Events Office as required. This may include venue inspections and follow-up with internal service providers as appropriate.

The Retail Services Assistant will be responsible for the maintains daily operation of Linx Lounge, including leading student and client engagement initiatives that align with Humber's institutional values of Courage, Innovation, Equity, Sustainability, and Health and Well-Being.

Effective ongoing communication with the Campus Services team is essential in ensuring student/guest service standards are met.

The incumbent must employ a deep understanding of college policies and privacy legislation (i.e., FIPPA, PHIPA) as it pertains to this role.


Duties also include:

  • Conduct pricing audits at the food retail locations, as necessary.
  • Assist in the reopening of Linx Lounge (Fall 2023).
  • Oversee the daily operations of Linx Lounge
  • Monitoring OneCard accounts for discrepancies and monitoring and rectifying any issues.
  • Generate spreadsheets using excel and compile data for reports as required,
  • Assist with the Central Events Office as needed, for example. verifying special room setups and/or catering orders have been delivered/executed as required
  • Contribute to and foster collaborations between Ancillary Services and Support Humber's Sustainability office i.e., #ReuseHumber, Fairtrade Campus designations, Low Waste Catering, etc.
  • Lead Customer Engagement initiatives and assist with marketing campaigns.

What you bring to the role:

Education
1-year certificate or equivalent in Administration or Hospitality (2-year diploma in Hospitality, Restaurant Management or Finance/Administration, or equivalent combination of work experience and education)


Experience
2 years of Food, Retail, or Business experience.


Skills

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to respond to shifting priorities as they emerge and demonstrated ability to work with frequent interruptions
  • Sound judgment
  • Report generation and presentation skills
  • Experience with Banner Finance is considered an asset
  • Intermediate level of experience with Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel and Outlook)
  • Demonstrated experience in overseeing daily operations in a Retail and/or Customer Service environment; including experience supervising others
  • Customer engagement
  • Organization skills
  • Retail experience
  • OneCard, ITC software knowledge is considered an asset
