Description
The Wetaskiwin School Division has an opening for Administrative Assistant to work at Central Office in the City of Wetaskiwin.
This position will be responsible to greet and direct visitors, receive and direct calls, or take/relay messages. Work assignments are varied but tend to follow established routines/procedures and specific directions. Judgment is required to recognize non-routine situations/problems and respond appropriately. Problem-solving involves balancing the varied and occasionally conflicting demands of a busy office and a willingness to cross train. This position will report to the Superintendent or designate.The following is a list of duties:
- Greet and direct visitors with a welcoming demeanor
- Handle incoming calls, take/relay messages, and provide assistance as needed
- Execute diverse office assignments assigned by the Superintendent or designate
- Maintain organized and efficient reception for Central Office
- Coordinate and participate in public relations activities such as Pumpkin Ball, Santa Claus parades, and community events in Wetaskiwin City and the County
- Manage office supplies by overseeing the ordering process
- Finance duties, including journal entries and IEW tasks
- Division Rycor for hockeyrelated responsibilities
- Serve as a backup for the red phone (emergency line) and school messenger
- Serve as a backup and contributor to social media management
- Serve as a backup and contributor website content
- Other duties as assigned
- Strong customer service skills to ensure positive interactions
- Proven problemsolving abilities in various office scenarios
- Previous experience as an Administrative Assistant in a public school setting
- Flexibility and strong organizational skills to manage varied tasks
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Team player with the ability to collaborate effectively
- Cultural understanding of Treaty 6 Plains Cree is an asset
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Commitment to the Health and Safety Program, adhering to Boardprescribed training
