THE ROLE
We are actively looking for an Intern Analyst to join our Responsible Investing team in
January 2023, for an
8-month internship.
This role will provide opportunities to engage with internal Investment and Communications partners as well as external stakeholders and partners.
The Intern will support UPP in addressing the impact of investment activity on issues like climate change, equity and inclusion, human rights, and good governance.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a graduate or undergraduate student to gain valuable work experience in a fast-growing, dynamic environment while being a part of a new pension plan.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Support the development of UPP's position statements on salient environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues.
- Contribute to the preparation of UPP's submissions and advocacy on public policy and regulatory issues related to ESG and sustainability.
- Provide research and support for meetings with the management and/or board members of corporations on climate change and other ESG issues.
- Assist with proxy voting at corporate annual meetings to ensure UPP votes are cast in accordance with our proxy voting policy
- Support UPP's annual responsible investing reporting (including disclosure in line with the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures)
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Environment and Business, Sustainability, Economics, Law or a related field
- Strong analytical skills and communication skills with the ability to understand, dissect and summarize complex information
- A keen interest in the impact of business and capital markets on environmental and social sustainability.
