Specific Accountabilities:


  • Performs general maintenance activities (changes ceiling tiles, installs security cameras, operates articulate boom lift, painting, mudding drywall, tiling, replaces light bulbs; spray sanitizes classrooms installs door signs, bulletin and whiteboards, fabricating bookshelves and stands for signage)
  • Orders and picks up maintenance supplies
  • Completes equipment and furniture relocations
  • Assists the HVAC Technician in the maintenance of HVAC units with filter changes, ensuring the maintenance schedule is adhered to
  • Performs preventative maintenance by advising supervisor or designate of nonroutine repairs that should be initiated
  • Completes maintenance and cleaning inspections of the facilities
  • Initiates works orders in JIRA that are required following inspections and ensuring that work orders are completed
  • Assists in the development and implementation of planned maintenance
  • Assists department by investigating and assessing facilities related concerns, either by initiating repairs or by contacting a contractor to complete repairs for Campus buildings
  • Carpentry related duties (construction and finishing construction services for college facilities, fabrication of shelves, bookshelves, and furniture)
  • Repair and installation cabinetry
  • Tiling and tiling repairs
  • Minor plumbing repairs
  • Assist other departments in obtaining quotes for various projects including equipment upgrades, space requirements and upgrades, and provides technical support and advice
  • Obtaining and recommending options/suppliers, and pricing/cost estimates for approval of Manager, Facilities Management
Provides assistance to coworkers to complete work requests (installing security cameras, installations of signage, classroom spacing, sanitizing areas, fabricating signage stands for non-smoking campus, operate and use articulating boom lift)


About the Position:


This is a full-time support staff Bargaining Unit position reporting to the Manager, Operations & Maintenance working 40 hours per week at an hourly rate of $30.00.


In this role, you will be responsible for the provision of an effective, safe, clean, secure and comfortable physical environment for College employees, students, and visitors.

In addition, you will be responsible for the preventative maintenance, installation, maintenance, repair, control and
operation of equipment, buildings, grounds, and facilities.


Qualifications:


  • Minimum of 1 year certificate in Construction Skilled Trades, or equivalent education
  • Minimum of 5 years previous experience in building maintenance, construction or renovations (industrial or commercial preferred)
