As a Personal Trainer at the YMCA, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, safe, and values-based training sessions to members who have purchased additional services.


Location:
Peter Gilgan Family YMCA, 410 Rebecca Street, Oakville, Ontario.


Hours of Work:
Part-Time, 10-20 hrs per week. Flexible shifts, including mornings, daytime, evenings, and weekends.


Opportunities:

In addition to Personal Training, there are possibilities for the Personal Trainer to work additional hours as a wellness coach and, if qualified, a group fitness instructor.

Responsibilities:


  • Develop and deliver effective, safe, and enjoyable health and fitness programs, actively coaching YMCA members to achieve their personal health and wellness goals.
  • Create safe cardio and strength programs based on clients' wants and goals, considering any injuries or medical conditions they may have.
  • Listen to clients' goals, needs, and wants, and implement them in their programs.
  • Develop unique, effective, and safe cardio and strength programs for clients who have purchased Personal Training Packages.
  • Train clients oneonone or in small groups, as specified by their purchased package.
  • Ensure client retention by providing excellent Personal Training and Customer Service, encouraging package renewals.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of anatomy, exercise physiology, and program design to ensure safe and effective programs for clients.
  • Provide new member orientations and assist them in becoming familiar with equipment on the floor.
  • Embody the YMCA's vision by fostering meaningful, longlasting relationships with members through purposeful interactions.
  • Act as an Ambassador for the YMCA, consistently providing excellent membership service and support.
  • Support and assist in adult center program development.
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of adultoriented special events and other activities.
  • Continuously challenge the status quo to develop innovative and enjoyable programs and services in alignment with the Y's mission and budget.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries regarding fitness programs, serving as an Ambassador of the Wellness Department with excellent membership service and support.
  • Maintain high member retention by proactively establishing and maintaining member relationships and individual coaching.
  • Track and report training sessions to the Team Leader.
  • Promote, sell, and deliver Personal Training to members.
  • Adhere to Adult HFA Policy, Child Protection Policy, health, and safety procedures.
  • Actively participate in our "Clean Culture" by continuously cleaning and disinfecting equipment and surfaces.
  • Monitor equipment to maintain safety within the Wellness Center, reporting any defects or breakdowns immediately to the Supervisor and Manager of Building Services.

Requirements:


  • Training or postsecondary education in Exercise Science, Recreation Management, Kinesiology designation, and/or Physical Education is preferred.
  • YMCA Fitness Leader Certification.
  • YMCA Individual Conditioning Certification.
  • YMCA or recognized Personal Trainer Certification.
  • CPFLA CFC-PT.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Minimum 6 months experience working as a fitness instructor, coach, or personal trainer.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Current Police Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
