    What you'll do
  • This position is a regular parttime instructor within our Costuming department. The Costuming for Stage & Screen department is a twoyear fulltime diploma program that teaches students the technical and creative aspects of costuming for theatre and film.
  • This faculty position will deal with first and secondyear students as they work on a planning, preparing and execution of main stage theatrical productions that take place in both terms. The firstyear students form the working crew while the secondyear students take on leadership roles as Assistant Costume Designers, Coordinators, Head Dressers, Cutters and Key Dyer/ Breakdown. Tech week generally occurs on Week 10 or 11 of each term and evening work will occur during this timeperiod.
  • The second part of this faculty position will deal with first
- and second-year students as they work on the planning, preparing and execution of a short film production project. The first-year students form the set crew while the second-year students take on leadership roles as Costume Designers and Coordinators. Please note this film production work occurs in the Spring Term. The first five weeks of the Spring course (Jan

  • April) follow our weekly timetable. Weeks 512 regular classes are suspended while Instructor and Lab Supervisor divide their time with students on their film productions. Weekend work will occur during this timeperiod. Classes will resume at regularly scheduled time during week 1314.
    What you'll bring
  • Required:
  • Bachelor's of Arts degree. Master's degree preferred.
  • 10 years of film industry experience.
  • Working knowledge of Film and Theatre production organization and operations, and a solid understanding of the roles involved with film and theatre costume departments.
  • Working knowledge of Head of Costume Positions in Film and Theatre including all organizational and maintenance responsibilities.
  • Working knowledge of backstage organization and operations, including Wardrobe Manager and Dresser Positions.
  • Working knowledge of Synch on Set or current onset supporting software.
  • Working knowledge in a range of Costume Crafts, Cutting and Construction, or Design an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Western Costume history.
  • Proven ability to teach adult learners and to create a learning environment that supports a diverse student population.
