    Description

    We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join Seneca as Manager, Infrastructure, Storage, Servers, Backup . Reporting directly to the Head, Enterprise IT Infrastructure, this role holds a crucial position in managing and optimizing Seneca's Enterprise storage, servers, and backup systems. Additionally, you'll play a pivotal role in the procurement process, conduct workload balance analyses to optimize our infrastructure, collaborate closely with vendors, ensure the availability of backup media, and perform thorough assessments of our backup systems. A crucial aspect of this role is also leading and managing a dedicated team to achieve departmental goals and ensure efficient operations.

    Here is what you will be doing:

    • Researching and evaluating new technologies to align with college requirements, leading the implementation of hardware and software solutions.
    • Monitor system health, resolve issues, and plan vendor tool and equipment installations, offering expert guidance on security, performance, and functionality.
    • Executing upgrades to maintain compliance and drive framework changes based on college needs.
    • Oversee customer service standards, participate in budget control, and manage the central credentials repository and access methods.
    • Leading the Infrastructure servers, Storage, and Backup team, providing mentorship and fostering the adoption of advanced technology and efficient infrastructure design techniques among staff.
    • Managing workload assignments for team members, ensuring the smooth operation of the Director & Manager while overseeing financial, Human Resources, and administrative aspects.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Education and Experience

    • Minimum of seven (7) years of related work experience in Storage, Servers and Backup.
    • Working knowledge of Commvault, NetApp and HPE, demonstrating strong expertise in these platforms.
    • Certifications in VMWare, Commvault, NetApp, Hypervisor or other edge computing and infrastructure operations are considered an asset.
    • Expert knowledge and understanding of edge computing and infrastructure operations-related technologies.
    • Minimum completed three (3) year college diploma or undergraduate university degree in Computer Science or equivalent is required at the point of hire into this position.
    • Experience in project management, change management, and/or infrastructure planning.
    • Experience in overseeing and managing a team of personnel, exhibiting strong leadership skills to guide, motivate, and support team members in achieving organizational objectives.

    Knowledge and Skills

    • Proven ability to work under pressure, manage multiple and competing deadlines and priorities, and demonstrate flexibility.
    • Strong supervisory/leadership skills to manage Information and Information Technology projects combined with well-developed problem-solving, project management, and coordination skills to plan concurrent activities.
    • Leading-edge knowledge and understanding of major technology directions as it relates to the educational sector.
    • Ability to prepare technical documentation and conduct staff training.
    • Knowledge of accepted college practices and standards, including knowledge of organizational structures, overall goals, intent, and focus of relevant policies affecting the division/college.
