    We're looking for our next Senior Risk Control Engineer. Could It Be You?
    Under the direction of the Head of Facultative and Corporate, Canada, the Senior Risk Control Engineer is responsible to support the underwriting process through the technical evaluation, risk assessment and loss estimation for industrial risks within the Property, Engineering and Energy sectors.

    As part of the Facultative and Corporate unit, the primary focus is for risks originating from the Canadian Group – specifically Temple Insurance Company and Munich Reinsurance Company of Canada.

    • You will advise and support underwriters in the technical assessment of insurance risks

    • Conduct field surveys at key locations to analyze inherent risks and protective measures as well as document relevant aspects in survey reports.

    • Prepare property loss prevention reports summarizing the results of these property surveys

    • Evaluate external survey reports (desk reviews) in order to update underwriting information, evaluate loss prevention conditions and make recommendations as required for risk improvement.

    • Attend broker presentations on new business opportunities and renewal meetings on existing business as required.

    • Follow-up of the risk-related development of important clients

    • Deliver training and technical support on a wide range of industrial topics to internal and external customers

    • Provide internal communication on risk engineering topics, e.g. seminars, workshops, papers

    • Collaborate in internal working groups and projects, participate in the development and revision of internal risk engineering standards, processes and tools

    • Engage in independent continuous self-learning regarding trends and developments in the relevant industries to support Munich Re in forming opinions on emerging technical issues with an impact on insurance business (e.g. green energy, new battery technologies, AI, etc.).

    • Develop and maintain relationship within the Munich Re risk engineering community including Loss Control Engineering in Munich and MR F&C Risk Engineering in NY)

    • Participate in industry associations e.g. SFPE Southern Ontario Chapter, ICLR

    • First and foremost, you demonstrate a natural desire to provide exceptional client service through their energy, enthusiasm, and initiative.

    In addition, we are looking for the following qualifications:

    • Bachelor of Engineering or Applied Science degree from an accredited university.

    • Professional Engineering designation or in the final stages of qualification.

    • Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) / Certified Risk Manager (CRM) designation is desirable.

    • Minimum 5+ years work experience in property risk control / loss prevention field.

    • 3-5 years with industrial risk experience in property risk control / loss prevention with insurance company or broker.

    • Continuing education via lunch and learn sessions through SFPE or other professional organizations.

    • Some exposure to machinery/equipment breakdown risk control is desirable.

    • Strong ability to analyze and evaluate technical processes

    • Self-motivated with the ability to manage conflicting priorities, multitasking and deliverables.

    • Proactive and efficient working style.

    • Ability to adapt to various departmental needs, and flexibility of meeting stakeholders' expectations.

    • Excellent written and oral communication skills including ability to communicate complex content in an easily understandable way to internal and external non-specialist audiences.

    • Outstanding presentation skills, able to speak at professional seminars, panels or workshops

    • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.

    • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

    • Capable of leading large group discussions and presentations.

    • Ability to travel nationally and internationally
