Peter Green Hall Children's Centre - Early Childhood Educator

Job Title:
Early Childhood Educator - Permanent & Full-time position

Location: 1094 Wellington Street, Halifax, NS B3H 2Z9


Key Duties and Responsibilites:


  • Participate in creating learning environments where children and teachers are co
- constructors in their own learning.

  • Support children's interests and needs through an emergent curriculum based program.
  • Develop and implement childcare programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
  • Support opportunities, invitations and provocations for children to express their creativity and interests through art, dramatic play, music and physical activity.
  • Promoting independence and self help skills in children as they navigate their environments and the world around them.
  • Practice observing and recording to ensure children's unique needs are being met.
  • Document children's work and interests to use as a tool for planning, implementing and reflecting on children's development.
  • Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and wellbeing of children.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with teachers, administrators, children, families and the community.
  • Practice Behavior Guidance Policies implemented in employee handbook
  • Attend staff meetings, professional development training and parent teacher meetings as laid out in the centre's guidelines.

Academic, Training and Experience Qualifications

  • Children's age: 35 years
  • College, EGE diploma and childcare Classification Level II as outlined by the Department of Education
  • Early Childhood Development/ Early Years Branch
  • A minimum of 13 years experience in the field of Early Childhood Education
  • Security and safety: Child abuse registry check; Medical exam; Immunization records; Criminal record/vulnerable sector check
  • First Aid Certificate; CPR Certificate; Department of Education
  • Experience with the Reggio Emilia Philosophy is required

Salary:
$ $25.12 per hour for 37.5hrs a week at 52 weeks a year
