Content Specialist**In Canada, 1 in 5 children is growing up below the poverty line. For generations, poverty has stolen dreams and destroyed futures. At CityKidz, we think it's time to change that, and we're looking for committed people who will work with us to help kids dream big dreams and reach their full potential. CityKidz is a non-profit, Christian organization dedicated to increasing resiliency and inspiring big dreams for Canadian children living in low-income communities by providing inspirational experiences and nurturing personal relationships, one child at a time.


Responsibilities:


  • Support in the development and maintenance of content on the organization's website, ensuring content is of high editorial quality
  • Write Direct Marketing Appeals
  • Edit and proofread copy with an eye for detail
  • Produce compelling copy for multiple channels and formats (e.g. video, audio, written)
  • Write copy for supporter touchpoints, report backs, proposals and brochures
  • Attend programs to gather stories, photos and provide direction for film content
  • Interview participants, parents and volunteers to share their stories in a compelling and respectful manner
  • Create thank you letters for multiple stakeholders and gift types
  • Produce ad copy (print & digital)
  • Create and edit content for program participants (Flyers, Calendars, Letters, Contests)
  • Draft press releases
  • Maintain the digital content calendar
  • Work with external videographer and producer to create quarterly videos
  • Obtain media release permissions for all participants in stories, photos and video

Qualifications and Demonstrated Skills:


  • Experienced story teller with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Well organized, detail oriented, creative, and selfmotivated
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable working in a faith based human service agency
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, time management and followthru on tasks
  • A team player; able to effectively interact with a wide variety of people
  • Knowledge of social media marketing
  • Ability to work occasional evenings & weekends to attend programming
  • Educational background in marketing or communications, or 2 years related experience in marketing, public relations or advertising, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in the nonprofit sector a plus
  • Working knowledge of WordPress and Adobe InDesign an asset
