    The Opportunity:

    The Surgical RPN participates as a team member inthe promotion, assessment, provision and delivery of quality care throughsupportive, preventative, therapeutic, palliative and rehabilitative means inorder to attain or maintain optimal function. Provides direct care forindividuals, groups of individuals including family members and significantothers whose outcomes of care are predictable. RPNs who provide aspects of care in situations in which the patient'scondition is complex and the outcomes of care are not predictable do so incollaboration with RNs and with other members of the health care team.

    Qualifications:

  • Current Certificate of Registration as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Coronary Care 1 certification an asset
  • One year of applicable nursing experience preferred
  • Excellent customer service demeanour
  • Must strive to continuously provide asafe and supportive environment for patients, staff, physicians, and volunteers
  • Must adhere to the duties of workers, asstipulated in the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Must have an ability to effectivelycommunicate (written and verbal) in the English language in order to provideexcellent communication with team members, patients and families. Ability tocommunicate in additional language(s) is considered an asset.
  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Must be dedicated to professional growth& development
  • Must be able to perform all bona fideand essential duties of the position, which may include physical demands suchas moving/transferring patients, pushing, pulling, bending, etc.
  • Must have demonstrated excellentattendance/performance record
  • Ability to work independently andeffectively communicate with other members of the health care team
  • Duties and Responsibilities:

    Contributeswithin the scope of an RPN as a team member in the assessment, treatment,provision of care and health promotion for all patients through supportive,therapeutic, palliative and rehabilitative means while adhering to thestandards mandated by the College of Nurses of Ontario.
