GENERAL OVERVIEW

The Steward is responsible for the overall cleanliness of the pots, pans and dishes as well as the kitchen area.

The primary areas of focus for this position are:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensure a clean and safe kitchen area.
Wash pots, pans and dishes. Operate an automatic dishwasher.
Sweep and wash floors of kitchen and surrounding areas.
Remove garbage from various locations in the hotel (i.e. main kitchen, HCBG kitchen, staff room).
Embrace all Hotel standards and our vision, mission, and values.
Exceed the expectations of all guests (both internal and external) through empowerment and by responding attentively, efficiently, and politely to all requests.
Help create a positive work environment through teamwork and cooperation with peers and leaders.
Actively participate in monthly departmental communication meetings.
Contribute to a healthy and safe work environment by reporting all safety hazards, following WHMIS and Fire Safety training, and working in a safe manner.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Able to handle a physically demanding workload which includes heavy lifting up to approximately 40 pounds, pushing and standing for long periods of time.
Able to organize job tasks efficiently and be thorough
Reliable individual; flexible to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends.
WHMIS. Previous cleaning experience is an asset.
A team player; able to communicate effectively
