    JOB SUMMARY


    The Geospatial Analytics, Technology and Solutions unit is responsible for Geographic Information System (GIS) and Data Management programs and services, including Geographic Information System (GIS), Zoning Information System (ZIS) activities, Water and Wastewater Distribution Network, Engineering Information Centre, Central Registry (Composite Utilities) and Data Management, Cartography, Web GIS, Visualization and Analytics services.

    You are responsible for planning and leading highly complex geospatial projects involving multiple stakeholders, serving as a corporate geospatial/GIS data expert, and promoting and partnering with internal and external stakeholders to identify and implement opportunities to apply advanced geospatial analytics and share geospatial data.

    Our Digital Twins and Reality Capture project is seeking experienced geospatial data practitioners. Our Digital twins is a combination of (BIM, CAD, GIS) and leverages AI and other advanced analytics such as FME, Jupyter Notebooks, ESRI tools, IoT-enabled devices so our digital twin can be used to monitor the behavior and condition of systems in real-time. We also manage point cloud data, assess data quality and extract topographies, models, analyses, and other forms for use in our digital twin.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


    Completion of 4 year university degree in geomatics, computer science, data science, geoscience or other related field.

    Minimum of 5 years of experience working with geospatial data collection, interpretation and analysis, including demonstrated experience as a technical leader and subject matter expert.

    KNOWLEDGE

    • Geospatial/Big Data concepts, theories, principles and methodologies, including visualization
    • Data governance and data management practices
    • Data analytic models and frameworks
    • Geospatial (GIS/Big Data) applications, spatial analysis and related geospatial technologies and tools, including programming skills
    • Statistics
    • Business Intelligence tools (ie. Insights, Power BI)
    • Strong knowledge of modelling tools, including 3D
    • Project management techniques
    • Tools and methods for reviewing data in relational database management systems including querying, graphing, editing
    • Tools and techniques used in predictive modelling
    • Applicable regulations and legislation including the Planning Act, Environmental Assessment Act, AODA, MFIPPA
    • General knowledge of corporate and departmental policies and procedures related to web publishing (multiple formats, accessibility)
    • Web content management solutions
    • Techniques used in contracting, particularly those relating to the preparation of Requests for Proposal and the evaluation of resultant submissions
    • Must be familiar with all applicable health and safety legislation, have knowledge of any potential or actual danger to health or safety in the work place, and have knowledge of appropriate actions to be taken in order to ensure the health and safety of staff in accordance with applicable legislation and City policies and procedures
