    Salary:

    An annual stipend of $3,036.00, in accordance with BCGEU Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement.

    Description:

    These positions carry half-time teaching release or top up. Under the direction of the Associate Dean, the successful candidates will be responsible for educational leadership within the Human Development, Education and Care programs. The Chairs will have responsibility for maintaining excellence in the department and for taking appropriate, timely action to foster the highest possible standards of teaching, scholarship, service, and student advising. The Chairs also provide focus and direction to ensure the quality of programs, with responsibilities for leading the department in matters of curriculum, planning, assessment, regulatory oversight, student affairs, and adherence to college policy. The Chairs coordinate and support the personal and professional talents of the department members and assists them in functioning as an effective team. They will liaise with relevant external bodies to explore opportunities for program growth and to ensure programs are relevant and staying ahead of standards in the field.

    ***Note that the location of this position can be Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, or by Distance (online).

    Qualifications:

    Required:

    • Must be a current, regular employee of Northern Lights College
    • Completion of a relevant graduate degree (Masters or PhD)
    • Minimum of five years of instructional experience at the post-secondary level in relevant programs
    • Demonstrable commitment to educational leadership
    • Demonstrable excellence in written and verbal communication skills; and
    • Demonstrable excellence in team-building and consultative leadership

    Preference:

    • Not currently receiving course release for an appointed or earned position, and
    • Willingness to coordinate vacation time for maximum Chair coverage during June, July, and August.
