The Opportunity


RAM Iron & Metal is looking for an experienced Human Resources Specialist for our Corporate location to join our Team.

The Human Resources Specialist, under the direction of the Human Resources Director, will primarily be responsible to maintain accurate, up-to-date, and complete personnel records.

This position will monitor human resources-related documentation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and relevance to business processes. This role will also advise employees and managers on the interpretation of human resources policies and benefit programs.

The Human Resources Specialist must possess a degree or diploma in a related field and certified human resources professional (chip).

Principal Accountabilities:


  • Check prospective employee references.
  • Maintain human resources information and related records systems in compliance with applicable legislation.
  • Conduct exit interviews with resigning employees to gain a more indepth understanding of why they are resigning.
  • Set up all new hires in ADP for processing biweekly payroll for all salaried and hourly employees.
  • Compile employee data such as vacation and paid personal time, benefits audits, and reconciliations.
  • Develop and implement recruitment campaigns for the target audience, including partnerships with trade schools, high schools, and local postsecondary schools to rive the talent.
  • Develop, drive, organize and publicize company social events.
  • Gather, research, and prepare recruitment activity as it relates to the competition.
  • Assess posting characteristics to promote all RAM recruitment campaigns channel and cast the widest net or direct target searches.
  • Conduct employee surveys to identify the interests and concerns of employees.
  • Aid in promoting HR branding initiatives consistent with corporate business goals and objectives.
  • Prepare and deliver HR training programs through HR Downloads, and book eternal training courses as required by occupation requirements.
  • Act as the first point of contact for Human Resources.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality in all interactions.
  • Present a positive and professional image of the organization when interacting with employees, clients/customers, visitors, and other external stakeholders.
  • Schedule and confirm appointments, and interviews for the management team.
  • Act as the auditor for the time and attendance of all departments, master approver ensures all comments and notes are included for attendance tracking before delegating to payroll.
  • Provide ADP/download, Canada Life technical advice, and assistance to employees.
  • Oversee Human Resources information systems and technology solution data integrity between all systems.
  • Set up employees ensuring they have assigned user names/ passwords/ company assets allocation by employee occupation.
  • Stay informed on new or emerging trends and technologies that provide clear benefits to the organization, business partners, and/or customers/clients.
  • Process all terminations, transfers, and new employee assignments.

Qualifications and Experience:


  • Degree or diploma in a related field.
  • Certified Human Resources Professional. (CHRP)
  • Three years of related experience.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable employment and health and safety legislation.
  • Ability to read and interpret legislation.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands.
  • Ability to work individually as well as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated time management skills.
  • High flexibility with strong interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse environment.
  • High level of integrity and work ethic.
