PURPOSE and SCOPE:


Manage, plan and execute the activities of the Tool Build Shop to ensure timely and cost effective tools are built to meet the needs of the company.


PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


The following are the main job responsibilities and priorities for this position:

  • To coach and grow team members in Tool Build department
  • To continuously innovate, improve and manage the department's processes
  • Assess and prioritize tool request submissions and allocate labour and material.
  • Strong sense of urgency and commitment to meet required dates for product releases, and production requirements.
  • Communicate to Production Leadership on requirements and commitments.
  • Take an active role in tool design, build and commissioning.
  • Innovate and improve company tools to improve manufacturability and user experience.
  • Maintain area using lean techniques such as 5S, TPM and Visual Standards.
  • Perform screening of TRs and workorder completions to ensure proper closure.
  • Ensure complete documentation of tools in JDE and other systems.
  • Ensure department follows MacDon safety systems and procedures.
  • Plan manpower schedules.
  • Participate in the internal hiring process. Approves performance reviews. Ensures alignment of skills and development plan(s) for individual employees.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:


Education and Experience

  • Relevant post secondary education.
  • Five years of experience in a similar role or previous experience in a Supervisory role in a Manufacturing environment.
  • Green Belt certification an asset. Knowledge of Lean tools, problem solving, facilitation

Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of safety requirements.
  • Previous experience working with a Collective Agreement an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication skills.
