PURPOSE and SCOPE:

Manage, plan and execute the activities of the Tool Build Shop to ensure timely and cost effective tools are built to meet the needs of the company.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following are the main job responsibilities and priorities for this position:

To coach and grow team members in Tool Build department
To continuously innovate, improve and manage the department's processes
Assess and prioritize tool request submissions and allocate labour and material.
Strong sense of urgency and commitment to meet required dates for product releases, and production requirements.
Communicate to Production Leadership on requirements and commitments.
Take an active role in tool design, build and commissioning.
Innovate and improve company tools to improve manufacturability and user experience.
Maintain area using lean techniques such as 5S, TPM and Visual Standards.
Perform screening of TRs and workorder completions to ensure proper closure.
Ensure complete documentation of tools in JDE and other systems.
Ensure department follows MacDon safety systems and procedures.
Plan manpower schedules.
Participate in the internal hiring process. Approves performance reviews. Ensures alignment of skills and development plan(s) for individual employees.
Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience

Relevant post secondary education.
Five years of experience in a similar role or previous experience in a Supervisory role in a Manufacturing environment.
Green Belt certification an asset. Knowledge of Lean tools, problem solving, facilitation
