Job Summary:


Reporting to the Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences, the incumbent plays a key role with the Faculty of Health Sciences leadership team by providing a diverse range of confidential administrative support to the Dean and Associate Dean including responsibility for efficient management of the Dean's office.

The Assistant manages communication on behalf of the Dean's Office.

The Assistant exercises initiative and sound judgment and deals with delicate situations or complaints from internal sources as well as from the public with a high level of diplomacy, making referrals when necessary.

Qualifications:

A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.


A minimum of five (5) years of senior level administrative support experience; preferably in a post-secondary institution environment or similar complex public sector organization.


Applicants must have demonstrated superior interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills, that include experience in dealing with the public.

Prior supervisory experience is an asset.

Knowledge and understanding of post-secondary policies and procedures, and UFV accounting practices and financial reporting.

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, research tools.


Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters with discretion, tact, and diplomacy and make sound decisions within the limits of established policies and procedures.

Proven ability to establish and maintain positive, effective working relationships in a team environment at all times.

Demonstrated attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

Ability to adapt to ever changing workload priorities and effectively reprioritize or defer tasks in line with operational needs.

Self-motivated and self-directed with strong communication skills.

Ability to follow instructions with mínimal supervision and take initiative.
