Position Summary


The Marketing & Constituent Engagement team exists to offer our constituents (aka members) opportunities to explore and journey with others as they strive to live out what it means to be "faithful in daily work" - that intersection between faith and business - or bridging from Sunday to Monday.


The Marketing & Constituent Engagement Intern will provide support to the Marketing & Constituent Engagement Team, working alongside them to support MEDA's Network Hubs, Church Engagement strategy, College and University engagement strategy, Trips/Global Development Experiences, MEDA's Convention and MEDA's marketing and private donor fundraising efforts.


  • Job Status: Contract Spring/ Summer 202
  • Estimated duration of 16 weeks (dependent on funding*)
  • Start Date: May 2023
  • Location: Waterloo, ON / Hybrid / Remotework*
  • This opportunity is contingent upon approval by the 2023 Canada Summer Jobs Program which is an initiative of the Government of Canada's Summer Work Experience Program. It is designed to focus on local priorities, while helping young Canadians and their communities. It provides funding to organizations to create summer job opportunities for youth aged 15 to 30 years. Please review eligibility requirements and ensure you meet all the criteria prior to applying.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Constituent Engagement

  • Provide marketing and logístical support for the following events / activities:
  • Network hub / WEW activities and events
  • MEDA's annual Convention
  • Church outreach and engagement
  • College and University outreach and engagement
  • Trips/Global Development Experiences
  • Inside MEDA events
  • MEDAx (TBD and as required)
  • The Marketplace Magazine (as required)

REQUIREMENTS

Education:


  • Enrolled in or recent graduate of a program in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design or related field college or university program.

Canada Summer Jobs Requirements:


  • Be between 1530 years of age at the start of the employment;
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (international students with work visas are not eligible); and,
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations

Additional Qualifications:


  • Appreciation and support of MEDA's mission, vision and values
  • Understanding and appreciation of business principles, international development and MEDA's approach of creating business solutions to poverty
  • Strong team building, relational, interpersonal and communication abilities and skills communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including message development.
  • Experience and interest in event planning.
  • Experience working in Windows Office.
  • Independent, motivated and selfdirected.
  • Strong interest in international development
