Your Opportunity at ARC'TERYX:


  • As the Merchant, Special Projects, you bring profitable capsules to life. You will be responsible for working on our special projects, and creating cohesion through excellent communication with our APAC teams (China and Tokyo Creation Center). Your work aligns with the strategy that supports our company goals, consumer needs, and focuses on brand opportunities to bring innovative solutions to market. As the China business conduit, you distill insights, synthesize and share feedback to influence and guide our Merchandising team's global line plan. In collaboration with crossfunctional teams and external partners, you develop and and action projects that complement a holistic global line plan with a directtoconsumer focus.

Meet Your Future Team:


  • The global Merchandising team is a collaborative group of high performing Merchants, responsible for bringing exciting new products to market via partnership with our design/development team, as well as external partnership and collaborations. You will work cross functionally with all facets of the business including the Design, Development, Merchandise Planning & Allocations (MP&A), Supply Chain, China regional Merchandising and the Tokyo Creation Center (TCC) teams.

If you were the Merchant, Special Projects now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:

  • Supporting in the creation of capsules and special projects from briefing through to execution, in partnership with the Design and Development teams
  • Partnering with the Merchandise Planning teams across all global business channels to execute on assigned product categories, delivering on our 5year brand vision, sales, gross margin and inventory productivity goals
  • Managing the product lifecycle for each model from development to commercialization, to eventual redesign, replacement or retirement
  • Partnering on the creation of the overall strategic direction on seasonal selling plans to support our overall strategies (grow, diminish, hold, exit, launch)
  • Establishing processes, leveraging systems and creating cross functional relationships with the TCC
  • Bringing together your strong understanding of marketplace, sustainability needs and your indepth knowledge of the product pipeline to support and drive meaningful collaborations and partnerships
  • Supporting and executing product collaborations between strategic partners and the Arc'teryx internal teams for the development of new products
  • Researching and analyzing the global marketplace to identify key consumer and market insights to inform the concept work and development of new products and the range
  • Writing and presenting product briefs for each new product that aligns with the category strategy, seasonal storytelling focus, and brand vision
  • Developing and delivering product presentations for key calendar touchpoints that inspire and deliver the critical information to our internal stakeholders to ensure successful development of seasonal assets and plans
  • Owning the global Go-ToMarket (GTM) product knowledge and providing global commercial teams and partners with sellin tools and product information
  • Connecting with the China Merchandising teams to understand their business and marketplace insights; leveraging outcomes to influence the global line plan and grow the market
  • Ensuring that at relevant gates within the gotomarket process, feedback has been shared between global and China merchants
  • Ensuring China Pricing governance is maintained and relevant
  • Supporting in the onboarding, mentorship and training of the Associate Merchants
  • Upholding Fair Labor Association's Workplace Code of Conduct and Principles of Fair Labor and Responsible Sourcing, throughout the Arc'teryx supply chain

  • Defining new opportunities for products and collaborations, through solving customer needs by blending your understanding of our line plan architecture with our future technologies and innovations
  • Partnering with the planning team to determine model flow and analyze sell through, ensuring we have the right models, at the right time in the right places

Are you our next Merchant, Special Projects?:

  • You have 5+ years of experience in merchandising, product development, wholesale and/or vertical retail buying roles environments
  • You have strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail, with a proven ability to effectively project manage process driven work
  • You have effective and efficient time management skills, strong analytical skills, and excellent communication and presentation skills
  • You have a strong understanding of the active apparel market within the outdoor industry, and the key outdoor activities we make product for
  • You have an excellent understanding of the design and development process
  • You have strong leadership and teamwork skills to help facilitate work acro
