    The expected salary range for this role is CAD $ . This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.     Purpose


    Employees in this classification provide GIS support, primarily to North America Land, including but not limited to lands in British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec, Yukon and NWT.

    The GIS Analyst role is to provide GIS/Mapping services to produce, maintain and update various GIS data and detailed land control / land status maps and tenure information by utilizing ArcGIS, Mapinfo and AutoCAD programs including support for Competitor Monitoring.

    The key element of this role is the ability to collaborate internally with various departments such as Corp Development, Exploration & Business Development, Land / Legal, Environmental, and S&ER to coordinate and satisfy permitting, exploration and mining activities through supporting tenure applications, data and maintenance.

    Essential Duties


    GIS Analyst / Mapping Services:

    • Create, maintain and oversee geodatabases and spatial data using ESRI products
    • Analyze and validate land legal descriptions (e.g., deeds, contracts, titles, maps, etc.) and produce, edit, and maintain accurate and detailed land spatial data having regard for the Newmont Land Standard
    • Provide key GIS support for Landfolio, through creating, vetting, editing, and uploading spatial data, along with entering map references, editing the web map viewer, etc.
    • Manage and coordinate data storage on the world drive for cross functional data sharing
    • Perform various other GIS/mapping tasks including georeferencing, digitizing, attribute data entry, metadata, coordinate conversions, format conversions, definition queries, layer creation, etc.
    • Ensure vetted spatial data and GIS support is routinely provided to internal stakeholders to ensure critical decisions are being made with accurate maps
    • Provide GIS support to teams across North America regarding acquisition and divestiture of land
    • Communicate and coordinate work with the corporate land team regarding QAQC and asset strategy review of projects
    • Obtain and display land tenure data through BC MTO, MLAS Claim Services and 3rd party online mapping services
    • Provide support by compiling data for tenure management planning, competitor monitoring, budget reviews, annual reporting and due diligence exercises.
    • Perform general administrative tasks when necessary while maintaining the integrity of electronic files, maps and land management databases
    • Contribute to the development of GIS policies and procedures relating to land management.

    Education, Training & Experience

    • Post-secondary GIS / Mapping Certification
    • Three to Five years' work experience GIS Data Management, analysis
    • Trimble Landfolio and SAP Software Experience an asset
    • Well versed in ArcGIS and AutoCAD Platforms
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills – both written and oral
    • Self-starter with excellent time management and prioritization skills
    • Ability to edit shapefiles, geodatabases, raster, and tabular information
    • IT Technical Skills
    • Excellent knowledge of coordinate and projection systems
    • Strong work ethic and exceptional attention to detail
    • Exemplary analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work under deadlines on multiple projects
    • Adaptable to quick-paced, changing environment
    • Ability to handle confidential and proprietary company data and information
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

    Other Information

    • Engages and works with stakeholders of Newmont's Land, Legal, Exploration, S&ER, Corporate Development and Finance Departments
    • Supports strategic initiatives throughout the company by maintaining comprehensive knowledge of Newmont's Land Assets and sharing the information through maps, data sharing, presentations, and updates
    • Interacts with various government agencies to coordinate activities regulated by various acts and policies
    • Authorized to act as agent on behalf of the Company for staking and other aspects of land management through Provincial Government sites or other various government agencies and crown corporations as well as consultants both internal and external.
    • Accountable for own health and safety and to provide input to improve the team's overall health and safety.
