Description

The Dynamic Psychotherapy & Psychology Centre is looking for a Psychologist / Psychological Associate to join the team on a full-time or part-time basis either remotely or on a hybrid model.

Psychologists / Psych Assoc in Supervised Practice and applicants who are psychodynamically oriented, practice dynamically-informed treatment, or interested in learning psychodynamic therapy are all welcome.

Only applicants who are residents of Ontario and are registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario will be considered.


At DPPC, we are passionate about helping clients address the underlying emotional sources of their symptoms to facilitate meaningful and lasting change and reduction to their suffering.

We take a client-centred approach based on well-established and evidence-based psychodynamic principles with a focus on tailoring our services to meet the unique needs of each individual.

Our primary modalities include Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), Brief Psychodynamic Therapy, and Experiential Dynamic Therapy.


DPPC provides a collaborative and supportive environment for passionate clinicians to grow in their craft and enjoy what they do.

We promote continued professional development and provide a biweekly team consultation group meetings to learn from and support each other in our clinical work.


We offer consultation and training opportunities for associates who are interested in learning or expanding on their knowledge and skills in psychodynamic and experiential psychotherapies.


For Psychologists/ Psych Associates who are entering supervised practice, supervision is available and provided by a Clinical and Counselling Psychologist with a scope for working with adults in individual and group treatment.


For autonomous Psychologists/ Psych Associates, we welcome applicants who are registered to work across the age range (children, adolescents, adults, seniors).


While our office space is based out of Kingston, Ontario, and provides services to clients in person in Kingston, we offer online therapy options to clients across Ontario.


Job details:

Job type and Hours: Part-time to full-time hours are available. Independent contractor position. We require a minimum of 12 client hours a week.

Term:One-year contract and may be renewed. Starts immediately.

Pay:We offer competitive pay. The exact rate is determined by your level of training and experience.

Schedule:Determined by you.

Location:Hybrid model or remote. In-person services provided in our Kingston, Ontario, office, and virtual services via secure video telehealth for clients across Ontario.


Qualifications:


  • Master's or doctoral degree in Clinical / Counselling / Health Psychology.
  • Current licensure with the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO) as a fully registered member or a member under Supervised Practice.
  • At least 2 years of experience in providing individual therapy using evidencebased approaches.
  • Working knowledge of various therapeutic modalities including psychodynamic therapy and a willingness to work with clients from a psychodynamic, emotionfocused, and interpersonal/relational framework.
  • Good psychodiagnostic assessment skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying uptodate of best practices in the field of psychotherapy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, ethical standards, and professional boundaries in all aspects of the job, as is required by ethical guidelines and applicable laws.

Assets:


  • Training in one of the following psychodynamic modalities:
  • ISTDP (Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy)
  • AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy)
  • APT (Affect Phobia Therapy)
  • TLDP (Time Limited Dynamic Psychotherapy)
  • TFP (Transference Focused Psychotherapy)
  • STPP/BDP (Short-Term Psychodynamic Psychotherapy/Brief Dynamic Psychotherapy).
  • Experience facilitating group therapy.
  • Experience using online practice management software (i.e. Owl Practice, Jane App).
  • Ability and experience providing psychotherapy services using videobased online software.
  • Experience working with veterans or Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), members of the Canadian Armed Forces, or WSIB.
  • Experience working with chronic pain, Functional Neurological Disorders, or conversion disorders.
