Job Summary
The Room Attendant is responsible for ensuring a fresh and sanitized room for all guests. Prepares each room assigned for the arrival of new guests in accordance with the hotels service standards.


Role and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of all guestrooms and related areas.
  • Ensure that all housekeeping operations are carried out and maintained to high standards at all times.
  • To be fully converse with Hotel X Toronto, policies, procedures and operational standards.
  • Responsible for the care and maintenance of your equipment during each shift. Any defaults must be reported to Assistant Housekeeping Manager.
  • Practice the recycle of linen and toweling, as per set hotels procedures.
  • Cleans and makes up all rooms according to the standards required by Hotel X Toronto performing such daily activities as (list is an example, not complete)
  • Removal of all rubbish in waste bins and ashtrays;
  • Making up beds with fresh linen;
  • Dusting each piece of furniture inside and outside including lamps, shades, pictures and doors;
  • Vacuuming and spot cleaning of carpets in rooms
  • Cleaning by washing and drying of all areas in bathroom;
  • Replacing all guest supplies in room and bathroom.
  • Wash paintwork and doors when necessary as requested by the Assistant Housekeeping Manager.
  • Report any blankets, duvets, duvet covers or mattress pads in need of change.
  • Render personal assistance to guests by taking out food trays and newspapers.
  • The ability to perform Turndown Standards.
  • Responsible for collecting worksheet each morning with key, and returning each at the end of the shift.
  • Responsible for reporting all rooms which do not require service or which have DND signs on door in his or her assigned area by 2pm to Assistant Housekeeping Manager and Housekeeping Coordinator.
  • Responsible to report any room that is in need of extra cleaning as outlined in the extra cleaning procedures.
  • Responsible for master keys in his/her possession.
  • Responsible for reporting any malfunction in equipment.
  • Reports suspicious persons to the Security or telephone PBX.
  • Responsible for securing guest room doors.
  • Report immediately and turn over to the Security office all lost and found articles with room number and whom it was found by as required by the Lost & Found procedures
  • Report to the Assistant Housekeeping Manager anything requiring attention of the maintenance department.
  • Report anything to the Assistant Housekeeping Manager that may be a health or safety hazard.
  • Employee will acknowledge a guest immediately offering a friendly greeting in accordance with the service culture program.
  • Performs related duties and special projects as assigned by manager.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year cleaning experience in a Hotel or related industry.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of guests, employees and management.
  • Good organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
