Educational Technology Coordinator:


Primary Purpose:

The Gwenna Moss Centre for Teaching and Learning (GMCTL) provides professional development opportunities for departments, colleges, instructors and graduate students in teaching and professional skills, offers curriculum development and instructional design support for academic programs and courses, works to create an environment that enables good teaching and learning practices, and supports cross institutional initiatives in Indigenization and internationalization.

This position works with educational developers and instructional designers who support the educational use of technologies and the design of technology supported courses.


Nature of Work:

Reporting to the Manager, Teaching Innovation, the role will coordinate and lead work on educational technology and outcomes-based assessment, including the development of professional skills for graduate students in 990 courses across campus.

The role will also support the development of new competency-based micro-credentials.


Accountabilities:


Coordinate educational development around the use of technology to support teaching and learning %

  • Lead educational developers and instructional designers in supporting faculty to learn and use educational technologies
  • Work with staff, faculty, and academic leaders to shape the development of the Learning Technology Ecosystem at USask

Support the development and use of outcomes-based assessment - 20%

  • Lead professional development to support faculty in using outcomesbased assessments, including portfolios to teach and assess professional skills for graduate students
  • Work collaboratively with wide variety of teaching and learning stakeholders to shape assessment process, procedures and direction
  • In consultation with pilot faculty and leaders, refine and design online modules that advance and assess the professional skills of graduate students
  • Coach faculty and staff in the development of fair and equitable assessment practices that meet the needs of equitydeserving students

Support the development of the micro-credential offerings %

  • Support the design of new microcredentials, including the competencybased assessment structures and portfolio system
  • Support the evaluation of the microcredential offerings against our intended outcomes on an ongoing basis and plan for iterative enhancement, where needed
  • Work collaboratively with faculty and staff to advance microcredential development

Education:
Graduate degree required or equivalent education and experience.


Experience:
extensive experience with supporting professional learning/ educational development and use of academic technology. Demonstrated understanding of outcomes-based assessment process.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with academic leaders, faculty and administrators in higher education to develop and achieve shared goals, and manage many competing priorities
  • Proven initiative, organizational skills and ability to follow through on commitments
  • Ability to work comfortably with senior administrators, faculty members and academic staff on academic goals and priorities
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, and a high level of optimism, energy and empathy
  • Demonstrated understanding of teaching and learning, educational change initiatives, and/or program evaluation.
