- Lead a team of artists in the Montreal studio, acting as the primary point of contact for technical problem-solving and artistic guidance.
- Perform technical and artistic work of sculpting and modifying 3D meshes.
- Clear understanding of UV's and texture layout and their effect upon mesh creation.
- Perform visual and analytical problem solving in 3D space.
- Complete assigned modeling tasks in a timely manner.
- Ensure all working files are efficiently organized.
- Consistently meet production deadlines.
- Follow Supervising Modeler's directions, ensuring models created are accurate and effective.
- Lead a team of artists.
- Mentor junior and mid-level artists, providing constructive feedback on topology, and style.
- Collaborate with Rigging and Surfacing departments to ensure assets flow smoothly through the pipeline.
- Degree/diploma in fine arts or recognized animation program, and/or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 4 years' experience in Feature Film, Commercial and/or Video Game production with an emphasis on modeling.
- A good eye for proportions and detail in hard surface models, organic models and environments.
- Experience with traditional sculpture, drawing, and/or painting a plus.
- A creative problem solver who is organized and critical of his or her own work.
- A history of consistent high-end aesthetic and technical execution.
- Expert proficiency with Maya and Zbrush.
- Strong understanding of the full asset pipeline: modeling, rigging, texturing, and lookdev.
- Demonstrated ability to model stylistically diverse assets (from cartoon/stylized to photoreal).
- Experience with ShotGrid (Flow Production Tracking) for task management.
- Able to communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas

The Modeling Lead is responsible for the technical and artistic quality of the modeling department, overseeing the creation of hard surface and organic models for feature animation. Working closely with the Modeling Supervisor, the Lead helps translate the Director's vision into production-ready assets while managing the day-to-day operations of the modeling team. This role requires a balance of high-end sculpting ability, technical pipeline knowledge, and team leadership.
