What we seek:


OCHC is currently seeking a dedicated Energy and Sustainability Officer, who will contribute to the collaborative implementation of OCH's sustainability plan and promotes principles and practice of sustainable development, including energy efficiency, waste reduction and sustainable construction.

With the advice of the manager of Energy and sustainability the officer will undertake research and analysis and provides advice and recommendations on conservation and sustainability issues including energy and water.


Energy and Sustainability Officer with OCHC:_ _


As the Energy and sustainability Officer,
You will be a key player in
undertaking a research and analysis on conservation and sustainability issues including energy and water,
which ultimately help OCH objective to provide a safe and affordable homes to tenants in Ottawa Communities.



As Energy and Sustainability Officer, some of the things you will do include:

  • Lead and/or support energy, water and sustainability projects and initiatives for OCH's housing portfolio
  • Undertakes research and analysis, and develops plans in support of sustainable new developments and track the achievements
  • Identifies opportunities for sustainability and environmental improvements in the capital repair program
  • Provides technical advice and support, including on new development and refurbishment projects related to sustainability and energy and water conservation
  • Ensures that energy monitoring data is collected and accurate records are maintained, related to the tracking of utility billing costs and electrical, gas and water consumption
  • Conduct onsite inspections and energy surveys as required

What you bring:


Education & Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental management or a related field
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in engineering, construction, energy consulting or facility operations
  • Certified Energy Manager or Certified Measurement and Verification Professional certification is an asset

Skills and abilities:


  • Ability to
    monitor, control and document project costs and budget:
  • Ability to
    perform statistical analysis, including linear regressions and modelling
  • Capacity to undertake
    research and ability to write clear reports directed at nonspecialists
  • Strong
    conceptual skills for developing innovative solution designs
  • Excellent
    interpersonal skills allowing for appropriate professional relationships with colleagues at all levels within the organization
  • Strong
    negotiation and conflict resolution skills:
  • Ability to make appropriate
    judgements with respect to the assessment of risk and to recognize when issues should be brought to the attention of senior management.
  • Proficient in the
    use of information technology such as mobile devices and computer systems in the performance of work
  • Oral fluency and reading and writing abilities in
    English is required
  • Oral fluency and reading and writing abilities in
    French is an asset

  • Satisfactory Criminal Records Check
  • Valid "G" driver's license or equivalent and access to a vehicle for business purposes
  • Ability to work outside of and in excess of regular business hours, as required
