Job Duties:

Perform wet analysis or instrumental analysis of materials. This would include raw materials, in process, as well as finished goods.
Interpret results and provide production guidance to operations to ensure on spec production.
Collect, enter, and analyze Statistical Process Control (SPC) data in support of identifying systematic challenges or improving product quality and plant efficiency.
Collect samples in the plant for analysis.
Perform and document scheduled analytical equipment calibrations including standard tests in support of the plant's Quality Management System (ISO 9001).
Maintain raw material and product quality records.
Enter quality data into SAP and ensure timely completion of required Certificates of Analysis.
Maintains a high level of knowledge of properties of raw materials, products and specialty chemicals used on site including safe handling and disposal requirements.
Ensures that the lab is kept clean and organized.
Trouble shoot and maintain all lab equipment. Identify when external service support is required from vendors.
Perform regular sampling and analysis of plant wastewater treatment system.
Additional duties as required.

Qualifications Required:

Recognized degree in chemical technology/chemistry. (required).
Knowledge of instrumental methods (Gas Chromatography, Infrared Spectrophotometry, HPLC) is strongly preferred.
3 years relevant work experience (preferred).
Advanced computer skills with previous SAP experience an asset.

Physical Requirements:

Lift and control a minimum of 50 lbs load from floor level to standing position.
Regularly walk, bend, squat, climb stairs/ladders/scaffolds in both indoor and outdoor environments, yearround.
Ability to wear required PPE including full face respirator, safety boots, safety glasses, and hard hat.
