General Accountability:


Reporting to HR, the payroll and benefits administrator is responsible for managing a company's employee compensation and benefits system, ensuring the smooth operation of employee payment, managing existing employees' benefits packages, and implementing new benefits and perks for employees.

The payroll and benefits administrator will also be assigned some tasks relating to human resources, such as performing background checks on prospective applicants, handling worker's compensation claims, and supporting performance evaluations.

Understand laws and regulations pertaining to employee compensation and ensure the organization stays updated ensuring meeting all compliance needs.


Roles & Responsibilities:


  • Processing Payroll on time and accurately. Data entry, reporting, journal entry, commissions, etc., and maintaining records for over 200 employees.
  • Manage all Benefits Administration duties and endure is up to date, overseeing the process and addressing inquiries.
  • Overseeing the Attendance Management program (timekeeping information)
  • Supporting Managers and Supervisors relating to all employee health benefits and the RPP program
  • Ensure all employee files, etc. are up to date, current and complete for all locations including wages, benefits, sick and vacation time in line with employment contracts.
  • Termination pays and ROE preparation.
  • Worker's compensation fillings, T4
  • Process and policy improvements
  • Company compliance with federal and provincial regulations and guidelines
  • Secure confidential payroll operation information and maintain employees.
  • Critically review and analyze current payroll, benefits, and tax procedures to recommend and implement changes leading to best-practice operations. Look for opportunities to streamline (improve and reduce) work processes.
  • Handling payment issues

Qualifications & Requirements:


  • Minimum 3 years of related and relevant work experience in HR-Payroll and benefit/compensation
  • Bachelor or associate degree in HHRR, business, accounting, or related discipline or combination of experience and education
  • Preferred with a current PCP Payroll or CPHR (or working towards)
  • Good knowledge of MS Excel and MS Office
  • Experience with payroll systems and/or human resources software (ADP, Dayforce, etc.)
  • Ability to handle confidential information in an ethical and professional manner.
  • Strong knowledge of current Canadian payroll practices
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problemsolving, interpersonal, and analytical skills
  • Highly detailoriented and organized in work.
  • Excellent data entry skills

Salary & Benefits:


  • Salary range between $65K to $75K per year
