In support of this acquisition "BP Canada", has an exciting career opportunity for a
Paper Mill Foreman for our Edmonton Plant.


WHAT'S THE JOB?


Reporting directly to the
Paper Mill Supervisor, this position is accountable for safety, reliability, material handling, employee relations, and engagement in a high-performance work team environment.

The Paper Mill Foreman is responsible for in-house paper machine operations focusing on improving productivity and production while enhancing quality.


Must be able to lead the implementation of operations improvement opportunities and can troubleshoot while establishing new procedures to enhance results.

Will plan resources to ensure production targets are achieved, and be responsible for interviewing, training, and performance management of hourly employees.


Here's what you'll be responsible for in this role

  • Facilitate an environment where safety is the priority
  • Comply with all applicable provincial and local environmental and safety regulations, as well as company policies and procedures
  • Effectively manage production performance
  • Effectively partner with all departments of the mill and create an environment of teamwork
  • Providing leadership to department personnel to ensure continuing personal and professional development of team members
  • Coordinate production scheduling to meet customer demands and manage overtime
  • Build and maintain productive employee relations, driving employee satisfaction
  • Ensures proper company/union relations according to labor agreement
  • Troubleshooting quality and operational issues and developing systems and structures to avoid reoccurrences
  • Establish a high level of performance by following key departmental goals and objectives
  • Monitoring compliance with standard operating procedures
  • Ensuring quality systems are supported, in place, and comply with required specifications
  • Coordinating efforts with Maintenance, Operations, and Technical Resource Departments as required
  • Identifying longterm departmental improvement opportunities

Here is what's important to have to apply:

  • The position requires a
    technical degree (experience with multi-cylinder paper machines, an asset)

Minimum of 5 years of supervisory in a production facility; pulp and paper (an asset).

  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
