- Provide strategic legal advice on various areas, focusing on product litigation, disputes, regulatory matters, and commercial agreements
- Monitor developments in legislation, regulations, case law and general legal literature to determine impact on company and identify opportunities
- Develop and sustain effective professional working relationships within the Legal department and with business customers
- Handle other matters which may include privacy, employment, marketing and advertising, corporate matters, and consumer protection
- Anticipate issues strategically and identify risks
- Stay updated with business trends and legislative changes
- Must be a Lawyer in good standing called to the bar in a Canadian jurisdiction
- 3-5 years of relevant experience is required
- Experience in litigation particularly relating to product liability is essential
- Product regulatory experience would be considered an asset
- Some experience in commercial contract review, drafting and negotiation is necessary
- Strong organisational/project management skills are needed
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate issues strategically and identify risk is crucial
- High degree of integrity along with strong interpersonal skills is expected
