    Introduction

    Manitoba Parks is seeking qualified individuals to fill an Operator 2 position located in the South Whiteshell District. These positions are 52 weeks, non-seasonal departmental.

    Conditions of Employment:
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must posess and maintain a full stage Manitoba Class 5 driver's licence with a full air brake endorsement, or be willing to ascertain a full air brake endorsement within 90 days of employment.
  • Must be physically able to perform the duties of the position, including lifting weights up to 50 lbs and working in various types of outdoor conditions.
  • Must be willing and able to work weekends, shift work and holidays.
  • Qualifications: Essential:
  • Experience operating and maintaining Operator 1 and Operator 2 Classification park mechanical equipment such as: three-ton truck, three-ton garbage packer with air brakes, tractor loaders (under one yard), etc.
  • Experience in construction, maintenance and grounds keeping.
  • Experience operating and maintaining small equipment such as riding mowers, light automotive vehicles (ie. Gators, ATV's), tractors, Argo, snowmobile, chainsaw, brush saw, push mower.
  • Working knowledge of Workplace Safety and Health risk management issues related to the operation of park mechanical equipment and vehicles.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working under minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with the public and co-workers, the ability to deal with stressful situations.
  • Desired:
  • Ability to keep and maintain written records.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Duties: Under the direction of the Park Works Supervisor or Designate, the Operator 2 will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of a variety of Operator 1 and Operator 2 Classification park mechanical equipment such as: three-ton truck, three-ton garbage packer with air brakes, tractor loaders (under one yard), riding mowers, light automotive vehicles (ie. Gators, ATV's), Argo, snowmobiles, etc.
