The Opportunity
The Facilities Cleaner will ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of the YMCA facilities at the Saint John Regional Y.

The Facilities Cleaner acts in a professional manner that ensures a positive overall impression of the property as well as ensuring the facility is clean and well maintained.


Responsibilities

  • Maintains the cleanliness, neatness and organization of the housekeeping area.
  • Service, clean and supply locker rooms, public restrooms, etc.
  • Laundering of towels.
  • Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing or vacuuming them.
  • Gather and empty trash.
  • Clean and polish fixtures.
  • Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors.
  • Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
  • Mix water and detergents in containers to prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Cleaning experience in a commercial establishment.
  • WHMIS training is an asset, and training will be provided if not already certified.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
  • Flexibility regarding assigned work schedule, including days, evenings and weekends.
  • Valid driver's license and access to own transportation.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED or willingness to obtain.
