About the opportunity


Established in 2023, the Canadian Sustainability Standards Board (CSSB) works alongside Canada's existing accounting and assurance boards and liaises with the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB).

CPA Canada's Standards Group seeks a
Manager, Technical Analysis to join the CSSB staff support team.

Through its immersive learning approach, this entry-level position provides an opportunity for longer-term progression into deeper technical analysis in sustainability standard setting.


The position offers the flexibility of remote work, or a more traditional work option based out of any of CPA Canada's offices in Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto or Burnaby.


What you'll do

  • Support the review, analysis and response to global exposure drafts that address social and environmental matters
  • Connect specific exposure draft proposals to the Canadian context, including capital market and other considerations
  • Translate market feedback into concrete recommendations, highlighting implications for the content and terminology of exposure draft standards
  • Develop presentation material to communicate key concepts, updates and next steps to staff and CSSB members
  • Provide support to external outreach activities
  • Contribute to the department's project management tools and tracking.

What we seek

  • Natural inclination for analytical and critical reasoning
  • Passion for advancing societal and environmental imperatives through standard setting
  • University degree in a related field, such as general business, sustainability, finance, accounting or statistical analysis
  • Background and/or credentials in any of the above fields with 5+ years of related work experience
  • Appreciation for the basic tenets of standard setting: process rigour, transparency, accountability and broad inclusion through market engagement
  • Strong organizational skills and pride in workmanship; unwavering attention to quality and deadlines
  • Superior verbal and written skills with an emphasis on clear, concise and effective communication
  • Ability to work autonomously or collaboratively across functions as appropriate
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office 365, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Bilingualism in French and English is an asset.
