    As a Pharmacy Assistant you will be responsible for technical and clerical functions in the area assigned. All rotations include responsibility for continuous quality improvement and workload measurement. Responsibilities include:

    • Transporting medications and picking up prescriptions

    • Pre-packaging

    • Preparing sterile and non-sterile compounds

    • Stock replenishment

    • Filling prescriptions

    • Quality assurance activities including but not limited to: expiry date checking, medication storage area inspections, audits, gathering patient information

    • Other duties as assigned

    Requirements:


    • Pharmacy Technician program graduates awaiting registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists

    • Minimum of 1 year related experience

    • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

    • Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues and volunteers and other members of the community and public

    • Demonstrates values consistent with SHN′s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation.

    • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, and environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area.

    • Demonstrates excellent work performance and attendance record

    Asset:


    • Previous hospital pharmacy experience with unit dose drug distribution systems and IV admixture services

    • Ability to speak another language
