Description
The Strategic Partnership Development Lead plays a leadership role in initiating, building and sustaining new and diversified strategic research partnerships with key external stakeholders, to support the growth of grant-funded and sponsored research opportunities for Sheridan's Research Centres (RCs) and Faculties, in alignment with Research strategic and business plans.
A focus of the partnership development activities will be within the broad theme of health and well-being.The incumbent will leverage the RCs' and Faculties' complementary strengths to identify and create interdisciplinary research project opportunities across existing and new sectors, partners and Sheridan researchers to address partner needs in comprehensive and innovative ways.
They will ensure a coordinated connection with the full ecosystem, across Sheridan research, innovation and entrepreneurship areas and with other Sheridan departments with externally facing functions.
What You'll be Doing
Developing, implementing and tracking a strategic plan and operational process for engaging and maintaining relationships with a diverse suite of industry, community, not-for-profit, post-secondary institution, industry association and other innovation support organizations, in collaboration with other partnership development leads/stakeholders within the research, innovation and entrepreneurship areas at Sheridan, to create research partnerships and alliances in alignment with the capabilities of Sheridan's RCs and Faculties relevant to health and well-being.
Developing internal capacity to support industry and community partner applied research needs, by building relationships and a knowledge base of Sheridan's research capabilities and providing advice and guidance to RCs and Faculties on industry/community innovation priorities and trends to inform strategic direction and capacity building.
Co-ordinating with other internal stakeholders to ensure that partners experience a seamless navigation of Sheridan's research and broader community and processes and follow up on existing projects for future collaboration needs.
About You
You have the skills and knowledge to work with an increasingly diverse student and staff population as well as a proven commitment to anti-oppression, equity, and inclusion.
You bring excellent interpersonal relationship skills with a track record of building and maintaining working relationships with a range of stakeholders in industry, community, academic and other public sector organizations.
You have a capacity to think and act strategically to assess and mitigate risk, and to resolve complex problems with good judgement and diplomacy to reflect positively on the reputation of the college.
Your oral and written communication skills allow you the ability to effectively engage, communicate and negotiate with, and influence key individuals at a range of external organizations and internal employees.
5 years of in-depth work experience conducting business and partnership development (equivalency will be considered).
Sound knowledge and proven ability in assessing research needs, opportunities and capabilities in a variety of disciplines
Understanding of technology development, intellectual property and commercialization
Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and business intelligence databases is an asset.
Solid background and experience in computer systems; proficiency with all PC platforms (e.g., MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint and Database Administration).
