Join Our Clients Team as a Payroll Specialist
Trevor Frances Recruitment, representing one of our esteemed clients, is seeking a dedicated Payroll Specialist to take the reins of payroll processing in Canada and the US.
This challenging yet rewarding role encompasses the entire payroll cycle, participation in year-end activities, garnishment management, and meticulous payroll journal entries.
Responsibilities:
- Execute the meticulous preparation and processing of assigned Canada and US payrolls, spanning weekly and bi-weekly cycles for both hourly and salaried employees across union and non-union environments.
- Display expertise in garnishment processing, incentive payouts, deferred incentive payments, stock options, hypo tax, shadow payroll reporting, and pension payrolls.
- Conduct precise balancing of assigned payrolls in accordance with year-end calendars, and contribute to audits of other payrolls as needed.
- Skillfully set up initial garnishments and reconcile 3rd party remittances within defined due dates.
- Uphold the accuracy and currency of payroll records.
- Lead the charge in year-end balancing, filing, and delivery of T4s and/or W2s, and execute year-end tax form amendments as required.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports in alignment with the needs of various internal and external stakeholders, including Finance, Operations, and Statutory Reporting.
- Generate payroll journal entries and reconcile payroll general ledger accounts upon request.
General Responsibilities:
- Provide robust support for inquiries in a manner that ensures employee satisfaction.
- Contribute actively to systems implementations related to payroll by defining requirements, participating in the preparation of test plans, and documenting test results.
- Document and maintain processing instructions (run books) and checklists for payroll processing.
- Demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Showcase strong organizational skills, prioritizing multiple tasks to meet deadlines effectively.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in processing large-scale employee) US and Canada payrolls within a fast-paced environment.
- Exposure to expatriate/commuter payroll is considered an asset.
- Active PCP or FPC Designation or a demonstrated willingness to obtain the designation.
Other Requirements:
- Proven planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining sensitive and highly confidential information.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a superior track record of achieving high-quality results.
- Advanced Excel skills for reporting, metrics, and data validation.
