    Position: Ship Loading Superintendent

    Reporting to: Ship Loading Manager

    Location: Milne Inlet Port on Baffin Island, Nunavut, Canada

    Schedule: 4-6 weeks on / 2 weeks off – 12-hour workdays, for the duration of the shipping season (end July – Beginning November)

    Travel costs, lodging, meals are included.

    WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING | THE ROLE

    Ship Loading Superintendents are responsible for:

    Operations:

  • Schedule ship loading operations with Port site team (Port Captains, agents and ship loader supervisory staff)
  • Review ship's stowage and pre-stow plans
  • Estimate pours dispatch per holds
  • Ensure cargo is evenly distributed in each cargo hold, as per IMO and BLU codes
  • Communicate with all involved parties to ensure any concerns are addressed and requirements are fulfilled
  • Prepare reports for stevedoring activities (activity logs, loading sequence and pours dispatch)
  • Investigate and prepare accident and incident reports
  • WHAT YOU BRING | THE PERSON

  • Stevedoring or sailing experience with/on dry bulk carriers is required
  • College degree in Logistics/transportation/maritime industry is an asset
  • Knowledge of deballasting and loading simultaneously
  • Prior experience with Panamax and Cape Size vessels is an asset
  • Able to read vessel draft, follow a loading sequence and trim a vessel
  • Knowledge of IMO and BLU codes
  • Capable of performing basic draft survey calculation
  • Strong communication, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Team player with self-starter abilities
