Job Summary


Reporting to the Principal Investigators, the Research Project Manager will be responsible for the overall management of funded research projects whose aim is to develop and evaluate Oasis, a model of aging-in-place in apartment buildings in Kingston and participating city locations within Ontario.

The incumbent will provide leadership and expert level technical advice into the implementation and conduct of the project, including being responsible for the overall project plan and activities, staffing and training, budget development, and financial accountability.

The incumbent will establish project priorities, develop training requirements for participating primary care practices, ensure there is active communication with study sites, and promote effective collaboration with the study investigators.

The incumbent will present results, including preparing reports to the funder, preparing publications, and developing and delivering scientific presentations at meetings and conferences.


Job Description:


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Develop, maintain and monitor a detailed project management timeline and task set; recommend and design research plans, and set priorities and project objectives
  • Develop the project budget and be responsible for monitoring and reporting, as per funder/institution guidelines, and in coordination with the Research Grants and Financial Officer of the School of Rehabilitation Therapy
  • Ensure there is appropriate compliance with financial recording keeping and reporting requirements; analyze information for budget evaluation
  • Develop and prepare project materials, including printed recruitment materials, and printed and online data collection forms
  • Recruit and effectively communicate with community care agencies to develop and build collaborations with apartment building and the participating residents
  • Support the maintenance of a social media presence regarding aginginplace models, seniors programming and health aging
  • Recruit and effectively communicate with residents of the buildings to build capacity, and participation
  • Support project staff, as applicable, in screening for inclusion, recruiting, and following up with patient participants
  • Ensure the research project runs in accordance with the research protocol, and keep track of the project according to the project timeline
  • Establish research schedules, monitor project progress, evaluate data, and make recommendations to resolve research problems and changes in procedures, where necessary. Report progress to the PI's on a regular basis
  • Lead research team meetings: prepare agendas, minutes, and other meeting materials
  • Ensure there is ongoing and effective communication within the broader research team and with the research sites; liaise with research partners and community collaborators
  • Manage data and perform high quality statistical analysis; assess and interpret data and supporting documentation to ensure protocol compliance
  • Support the completion of documents to initiate and conduct portions of study in collaboration with the Institute Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES)
  • Coordinate and communicate with the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES) analysist
  • Participate in dissemination of research project findings by: preparing, editing and reviewing manuscripts for publication; writing reports; and preparing academic presentations for conferences
  • Lead a team of staff; monitoring progress to ensure deliverables are met
  • Develop staffing strategy, participate in staffing and hiring committees, provide recommendations into employee selection
  • Plan, prioritize and supervise the work of junior research staff by providing work direction, technical guidance, scheduling and assigning work, and overseeing its completion
  • Assess staffing training and development needs, manage employee performance by establishing individual objectives and evaluating output; address and resolve employee relations concerns by adhering to the University's policies and procedures
  • Continuously seek opportunities to build team capability and effectiveness
  • Plans, prioritizes, and manages the work of employees, providing strategic and tactical advice, guidance and coaching. Identifies the need for staff resources, participates on staffing committees, and makes effective recommendations regarding employee selection.
