MASIV is seeking a passionate and driven Architectural Technologist to join our dynamic team of innovators, creators, and problem solvers.
As part of our collaborative environment, you'll be immersed in diverse projects, ranging from residential architectural design and planning to sustainable construction practices and placemaking initiatives.
Working under the guidance of experienced designers and makers, you'll have the opportunity to apply your theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios, contributing to the conception, development, and execution of architectural, fabrication, and public art projects.
Your role will involve active participation in design charrettes, site visits, and client meetings, providing invaluable hands-on experience in all phases of the architectural process.
Based at our headquarters in Calgary, AB, you'll work closely with our team to ensure that design concepts align with project goals and client expectations.
This position offers a platform for you to cultivate your creativity, refine your technical skills, and gain practical insights into the field of architecture and design.

Starting at $25/hour, and commensurate with experience
Responsibilities
Core projects include architectural residential design for single family homes, duplexes, row homes, townhomes, missing middle homes, architectural fabrication, public art, millworking, furniture, and in-built projects
Preparing a complete set of working drawings, including plot plans
Able to create new complete construction details as requested
Review contract documents and customer redlines to make customer changes to standard plans
Review & understand Architectural control guidelines
Communicate changes and/or modifications effectively to Area Managers
Provide complete work order packages to estimators
Contribute to the creation of company graphic and architectural design standards
Contribute to the conception and development of architectural designs, models, and visualizations to guide architectural design processes.
Visualization:
Develop 3D renderings, and illustrations to inform and express research and design concepts to the team, clients, and the public
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, architects of varying levels, designers, and fabricators
Communicate ideas, work, and progress clearly, including by engaging in team meetings, presentations, and other creative communication outlets
To take responsibility where required by the project leaders for specific areas of the design, fabrication and project development
To create fabrication and shop drawings, assembly and installation procedures, and liaise with the fabrication staff for production
To give support where needed to colleagues working on other projects within the design, architectural, and industrial team
To seek continual professional development within the design discipline
Thorough knowledge of and compliance with MASIV procedures and standards
To contribute, or otherwise assist as required
Qualities and skills required
A minimum of 1-3 years of residential drafting experience in the Canadian construction industry
Experience in an architecture or developer studio
Portfolio demonstrating out-of-the-box thinking and stellar taste in design
A solid aptitude for digital design tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, etc.
Knowledge in Rhino, Grasshopper, Blender, etc. would be an asset
A proven track record of innovative interior details and elevation designs
A solid understanding of the residential construction processes, building materials, permit processes, etc.
A solid understanding of the NBC AE 2019 and current land use bylaws for Calgary and surrounding areas
Strong understanding of architectural design standards, composition, form, and color
Strong commitment to the team; maintains positive working relationships with diverse people, including internal team and external partners
Embodies ethics and integrity in all work, respecting both company and broader community policies in all conduct
Strong knowledge in structural design and building science
Able to demonstrate ability to undertake the above responsibilities
A high attention to detail and thirst for learning new skills
