Northern Lights Wildlife Wolf center promotes wolf conservation throughout the natural environment.

We value the role these carnivores play in nature, and we strive to provide a one-of-a-kind, quality experience to the public as we support conservation through education.

We are currently looking for an interpreter and host at our outdoor wolf interpretive center in Golden, BC. You must be someone who likes working outdoors, is enthusiastic and is eager to learn.

Staff members at the center are expected to do a combination of jobs including interpretive programs, yard work, and administration.

We are looking for someone who is motivated and a self-starter.

What will you do in this job?

  • As an Interpretive Guide at Northern Lights, you will be required to learn and present a 20minute interpretive program about our wolves, wild wolves, and conservation of wolves in Canada and around the world. Once learned, you will be giving this program in rotation with other staff members throughout the day.
  • Greeting customers in the giftshop, managing the crowds as they enter/ exit the gift shop area and directing customers around the property.
  • Taking payments in cash for entry and sales.
  • Yard work including lawn mowing, raking leaves, picking weeds, maintenance of the enclosures and the property, prepping meat for feedings and cleaning up in the enclosures.
  • Opening and closing daily duties of the centre.

Requirements:


  • Environmental mindset
  • Public speaking skills. Onthejob training is provided. Able to communicate with both adults and children
  • Good physical strength and ability.
  • Self motivated, can think on your feet, attention to detail and openness to change is required.
  • Team player with good verbal communication and listening skills.
  • Able to multitask in a fastpaced environment.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Working conditions: Dress accordingly for weather conditions. Most of the work will be done in an outdoor setting.
  • Schedule varies. May include mornings, evenings and/or weekends.
Working at our center, we expect you to be self taught and aware of current environmental issues. You must be eager to learn and teach about the environment with the bonus of hanging out with wolves


Job Types:
Full-time, Part-time, Seasonal

Part-time hours: 30-40 per week


Salary:
From $16.75 per hour


Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekend availability
