TheTown of Woodstock is looking to hire a
Fulltime Permanent (unionized) UTILITY OPERATOR (Operator - Level 2 Certification).

TheUtility Operator is primarily responsible to support daily operations of the water/sewer systems.
Key duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Perform maintenance and repairs of broken water, sewer and sewer force main lines including locating and isolation of valves, identifying and repairing leaks, replacing pipes making necessary connections
- Perform maintenance checks on utility equipment, and maintain and repair fire hydrants as needed
- Assist with cleaning, repairs and maintenance of utility infrastructure, equipment (motors) and controls
- Monitor chlorine levels at various checkpoints and assist with the collection and delivery of weekly water and sewer samples
- Operation of heavy equipment
- Work in confined spaces in sewage lift stations, including replacement of heavy pumps and removal of line and pump blockages
- May be required to assist other Utility and Equipment operators or other departments as requested
- Follow safety protocols and procedures and immediately report incidences, accidents or concerns to the Director Utility
- Maintain courteous and respectful interactions with team members
Required Skills, Qualifications, Education and Experience:_
- A valid
Class 3 drivers license (with air brake); satisfactory driver's abstract which demonstrates safe and reliable driving
Class 2 Certification in
Water Treatment, Water Distribution, Wastewater Collection and Wastewater Treatment:
- Previous relevant job experience with operation of heavy equipment/ vehicles
- Ability to accurately read and legibly record readings from gauges and other instrumentation
- Must be willing to take appropriate occupational health and safety training/certifications; with Standard or Emergency First Aid Training & CPR preferable
- Some postsecondary training is preferred but high school diploma or equivalent is required
- Perform daily physically demanding labour related tasks 8 hours per day for 5 days per week; with frequent lifting (up to 50 lbs), pulling, pushing, bending, crouching and standing; in various weather conditions
Work Hours and Benefits_
- Minimum of 40 hours per week, 8 hour per day, Monday
- Friday; with some hours required outside of the regular work week (oncall and overtime) based on operational needs. The Town of Woodstock pays wages and benefits in accordance with the CUPE Local 719 Collective Bargaining Agreement

$26.56-$29.75 per hour
