Position Overview:

  • As a key member of the City of Kitchener's Licensing Services team, this member will be the project lead for the Amanda Public Portal integration and will assist the Manager of Licensing with completing bylaw reviews and associated processes, as well as work with charitable organizations for lottery licensing, and issue marriage licences
  • Responsibilities:
  • Assist AMANDA Analyst Developer with changes in the AMANDA program relating to reports, renewals, public portal, and business licences.
  • Attend AMANDA Steering Committee meetings and assist with integration of the Public Portal System for business licensing.
  • Develop communication material for businesses and community groups for the purpose of educating the public on the business licensing and lodging house bylaw.
  • Participate in 3year review of Comprehensive Business Licensing Bylaw.
  • Familiarity with Lodging House or Rental Housing bylaws.
  • Assist with front counter inquiries and pointofsale for business, lottery, and marriage licensing, as needed.
  • Review and analyze proposals for use of charitable funds and advise charities on lottery legislation.
  • Complete eligibility reviews on charitable or nonforprofit organizations.
  • Liaise and consult with communications staff to update Business Licensing webpage.
  • Assist with proactive inspection of businesses and special events.
  • May issue notices or summons to businesses not in compliance.
  • May need to testify at Licensing hearings and Provincial court.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:


  • Must be reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
  • Must have a minimum Grade 12 diploma with up to one year of additional postsecondary jobrelated courses (example: law and security, project management, municipal administration), or equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of related experience including customer service and working on major projects.
  • Must have knowledge in updating and maintaining content on webpages.
  • Must have strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Intermediate computer skills in data entry, word processing and other pertinent software i.e. MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Must have strong customer service skills.
  • Must have excellent problemsolving and critical thinking skills.
  • Must have excellent communication skills to liaise with City staff to ensure deadlines are being articulated and met.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation and be able to travel to various work locations across the City.
  • Preference will be given to the following:
  • Applicants with experience in Business Licensing.
  • Applicants with knowledge of the AMANDA system.
  • Applicants with inspection or enforcement experience.
