LSS Coordinator (1.0 FTE)
***The Learning Support Services Coordinator (Special Education & Learning Assistance) is responsible for the development of student learning plans and individualized education plans as well as determining the appropriate supports needed to meet student learning needs. The coordinator is supervised by the principal and collaborates with teachers and educational assistants in development and implementation of educational plans.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Bachelor of Education degree (or equivalent)
Hold, or be eligible for, a valid BC Teaching Certificate
University course work in the following areas:
Credentials in special education

In addition, courses in the following areas are recommended:

Meeting the needs of students with specific exceptions (i.e., autism, developmental delays, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), etc.)
Meeting the diverse behavioural needs in the classroom
Computer technology for the classroom
Nonviolent deescalation training

The applicant must:

Have a passion for Christian education
Practice and demonstrate evidence of a strong commitment to the Christian Faith
Practice strong collaboration skills and enjoy working in a team
Have strong written and verbal communication skills
Establish positive working relationships with school staff, community partners, families, and children
Be able to confidently lead and support staff
With colleagues, plan and maintain a learning environment that promotes the health, security, and wellbeing of children
Demonstrate a willingness to learn
