Purpose:


Under the direction of the Manager, Facility Operations, the Coordinator, Building Production will have lead responsibility for the safe, effective and efficient operation of all Athletics & Recreation (A&R) related facilities within the A&R infrastructure.

Facilities, include, but are not limited to, the Tait McKenzie Centre (including gymnasia, pool, fitness centre, studios, squash courts, change/locker rooms and offices, etc.), York Lions Stadium, Alumni Field, all outdoor sport fields and tennis courts, as well as dedicated A&R occupied spaces in York University buildings (i.e.

coaches offices in academic buildings) and non-York University buildings (i.e. team rooms in Canlan).

The Coordinator provides both general administrative and logístical assistance to the Manager, Facility Operations in the planning and administration associated with the day-to-day operations of the Athletics & Recreation facilities on the York Campus.

The Coordinator continually strives to achieve the highest standards for caretaking, custodial, repair and maintenance, grounds, physical plant operations and related services to support all Athletics & Recreation programming requirements and is the clearing house for all facility issues on a building production and operations level.

This position requires commitment and adherence to the values and principles of Athletics & Recreation as expressed in the mandate of the Department.


Education:

Completion of some post-secondary courses or equivalent in recreational/sport facility administration. Successful completion of basic pool and spa maintenance certificate program an asset.


Experience:

Four (4) to six (6) years related experience (e.g. facilities, recreation/sport, maintaining sports equipment).


Skills:


Excellent organizational, logístical and project coordination skills, scheduling ability, working within prescribed time lines, and seeing tasks through to completion.

Thorough understanding of risk management and accident prevention concepts.

In depth knowledge of athletic equipment, equipment maintenance, and safety guidelines for use.


Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation including WHMIS, Occupational Health and Safety, Canadian Safety standards, Public Health & Promotion Act, Electrical Code, Fire Code, Ontario Building Code, HVAC, and automated building systems.

Construction/Project cost estimating.


Experience in large building maintenance and strong knowledge of building operations and troubleshooting systems with the capacity to provide expert advice regarding building maintenance.
