We are currently recruiting Registered Early Childhood Educator(s) or equivalent (Child and Youth Worker or OCT Member) to join our Team in Markham at the following location: Lincoln Alexander PS.

Starting Pay:

RECE or Equivalent:
$ $25.80/hour plus Wage Enhancement Grant ($2.00/hr), Split Shift Premium ($2.00/hr) Canada Wide Early Learning & Child Care (up to $1.00/hr for RECEs where applicable)

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education (or approved equivalency) from a recognized college or university.
A recent Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
At least 18 years of age or older due to licensing requirements.
Health assessment and uptodate record of immunization as outlined by legislation.
Uptodate registration with the College of ECEs (if applicable).
Uptodate certification in CPR-C and Standard First Aid (training provided upon selection if required).
Experience with inquiry/play based program design and implementation, and with the use of pedagogical documentation.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Uses initiative; applies sound reason in solving problems and resolves conflict in a calm, professional manner.
Proven ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively and establish appropriate relationships with families, coworkers and other professionals.
Have the physical and emotional stamina to effectively supervise children in a variety of settings including outdoor public spaces.
Ability to use computer systems and programs; including Dayforce, and Storypark.
Engages with the children and provides a positive learning experience. Provides a range of care including assisting with meals/snacks, toileting, diapering, dressing, etc.
Participates in professional development opportunities, staff meetings and training sessions as required.
Completes program charts, daily logs, reports, and other administration tasks as required.
Performs general housekeeping and classroom duties. May be asked to occasionally fill in as cook (job description to be provided).
Provides guidance to assistant teachers, students and volunteers as needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT

Minor exposure to disagreeable elements (within work environment such as dirt/dust, adverse weather conditions, noise, etc).
Moderate level of physical effort is regularly required; including but not limited to kneeling, pushing, pulling, bending, and carrying.
Occasional exposure to computer terminals.
