- Coordinate and lead ICFR walkthroughs for Corporate Functional Area;
- Proactively monitor risks relating to financial report and work with control owners at Corporate to enhance controls as appropriate;
- Evaluate and challenge status quo, propose enhancements to ICFR controls, investigate the cause of ICFR control weaknesses, and ensure appropriate action plans are developed and properly implemented;
- Engage management in discussions about creative, efficient and effective ways to improve the financial control environment; Propose process improvements that will have a direct and positive impact on the business;
- Act as a liaison and facilitator between the external auditors and Sun Life in support of the ICFR portion of the external audits.
- CPA with 7+ years of public accounting or financial industry experience is strongly preferred
- Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and designing ICFR controls
- Strong project management, decision-making, and analytical capabilities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required as this position has direct contact with numerous stakeholders within and outside the Company
- Strong organizational skills and commitment to meeting reporting deadlines
- Ability to work with a variety of team members and function in a dynamic environment
