    The Opportunity

    As the Drama Intern, you will provide support and assistance to our team of instructors that offer musical theatre programs and camps to youths age 3 – 19 years. These programs and camps are offered by the Performing Arts branch of the City of St. Albert's Community Services department. There is a week of planning followed by five weeks of drama camps.

    Responsibilities may include assisting instructors by helping children learn music, choreography, running improv games and any other tasks the Lead Instructor assigns. Active participation in the day-to-day operations of the camps is vital. You will also be involved in supporting some final reporting at the end of the camps. Some light administrative duties may be included.

    Other tasks and responsibilities may include:

    •Assisting with the set up and tear down of equipment – camera, computer, monitor, sound system, piano, etc.

    •Setting up classes on Zoom and monitoring computer during the class if students are absent but still wish to attend class virtually.

    •Assisting with set-up, tear-down of chairs between classes.

    •Assist with sign-in

    •Assisting with classroom demonstrations as required.

    •Act as liaison between instructors and administration.

    •Assist with class planning, delivery of classes and reporting each week.

    Qualifications


    •The individuals we are looking for should ideally have extensive experience in the performing arts genre.

    •Experience working with youth is a definite asset.

    •The interns we seek are team players with high levels of interpersonal and communication skill.

    Further to the requirements listed above:

    •Preference will be given to students pursuing post secondary education in Musical Theatre, Acting, Music or Education.

    •We seek applicants with some of the following: dance experience, experience working with youth of all ages, and significant experience in Musical Theatre.

    •A Class 5 Drivers licence is an asset.

    Hours of Work

    Up to 15 hours per week including Saturday and some evenings. The number of hours worked per week fluctuates on an as-needed basis due to operational requirements and will be scheduled in advance where possible.

    Compensation

    $ $20.12 per hour based on qualifications and experience.
