    Title: Technical Architect – Cloud Platform / M365

    Duration: 12 Months with possiblity of extension

    Location: Remote Work – (Edmonton, AB - Onsite meetings required, . Frequency of meeting could be up to 3-4 times per month.)

    Job Description:

    Scope:

    • Cloud Platform Services supports fully integrated Cloud products Cloud landing zones and M365 services that enable Client staff to work more collaboratively and efficiently as they deliver valuable programs and services. The Cloud Platform Services area is also responsible for the continuous service improvement and continuous service development of those services and products.
    • Reporting to the Director, Cloud Platform Services, the Technical Architect resource will provide the planning, coordinating, development, documenting and delivery of multiple M365 and Cloud related projects and services; from the analysis phase through to the implementation phase. The Technical Architect may also be involved in managing other team members and providing architectural governance as required.
    • The Technical Architect will review and understand departmental and corporate policies, business rules, data requirements and supporting system processes and ensure the objectives and schedules align with client goals and objectives.
    • This Technical Architect will provide recommendations, including details of resource requirements, dependencies, interdependencies, policy implications pertaining to internal/external influences and the methodology to be applied.
    • This resource will have working knowledge and experience of IT infrastructure environments including general concepts of workstation/server hardware, software build and push strategies, and a general understanding of line-of-business applications and architectures. The resource must have a sound understanding of IT Change and Communication Management and User Acceptance Testing frameworks. We require this resource to have excellent communications skills, both written and verbal. A proven ability to function on an individual basis and in a team environment is essential. Resources awareness of existing client and department IT policies, procedures, standards, guidelines and practices is an asset.

    Duties:


    • Research and evaluate latest technology trends.


    • Architect new IT services, develop solution paper and test plans.


    • Evaluate current services and recommend remedial actions where required.


    • Assist in determining hardware/software requirements.


    • Collaborate with multi-disciplined teams on proof of concept and limited production roll outs.


    • Provide quality control on production implementations.


    • Communicate operation guidelines and policies to the clients.


    • Apply and interpret how the operation guidelines enhance the department's way of doing business.


    • Review new services and technology requests by business area and assess their impact on the operational environment, giving recommendations for remediation.


    • Assist in developing project plans, schedules, and estimates pertaining to architectural deployment and services delivery.


    • Assist in developing task lists and resource assignments within the context of architectural planning and deployments.


    • Assist with implementation of IT infrastructure.


    • Document technical recommendations and provide technical advice and guidance to management, operations and project team members and within shared IT services.


    • Ensure change management processes are followed.


    • Make recommendations to project team members pertaining to issues, risks and client satisfaction.


    • Provide tracking and reporting of time and status on all work as required.

    Equipment requirements:

    Resource will require own equipment

    • Resource must provide their own computer and related equipment. The computer's operating system must be a modern version of Windows or MacOS that is compatible with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and related software for remote access. Windows is preferred due to better compatibility. AVD/remote-related software will be installed on the resource's computer.
    • In the event that the Contractor's resources are directed to work remotely, the Contractor shall be responsible for providing all of its equipment, including computers, software, printers, supplies, desks and chairs.

    Working Hours:

    • • Standard Hours of work are 08:15 – 16:30 Alberta time, Monday through Friday excluding holidays observed by the Province
    • • Work must be done from within Canada, due to network and data security issues.
    • • It is anticipated the role will be 100% remote, however in the event of an onsite meeting, the client does not pay for travel to attend on-site meetings, nor any expenses related to relocation, commuting, housing/accommodation, food/drink.

    Notes on Location:

    • Resource will work remotely, though must be available for onsite meetings when required. Onsite meetings include but are not limited to strategic, architectural, and technical discussions, meeting with team members, senior managers, directors, executive directors and business clients. Frequency of meeting could be up to 3-4 times per month.
